PS. I Love You

From my posts, it’s pretty obvious that I like things to match and I’m pretty fussy about the fine details. In fact, both H. and I are like this so it’s impossibly frustrating when we try to build furniture together – we’ve never been able to build a piece of furniture without fighting! Yet the final result is always rewarding.

We spent the weekend setting up a couple of new staples to our living space – an IKEA PS Cabinet and a couple of photo shelves above our sofa which gave us a bit more storage & display space.

The cabinet was easy to assemble but the ledges took us a couple of go’s – but we finally got there in the end. Hope you like the final result!

Couch Time!

Okay, I’m sure by now you’re all sick to death of reading about my couch woes but this is it… I’ve finally got it!

In fact, I’m sitting on our couch right now as I write this post… and it couldn’t have come at a better time as Melbourne heads towards another winter.

Looking at the lounge room as we headed into the kitchen for breakfast this morning was a great joy and I have to say that we definitely chose the right one. The colour, arrangement and size works really well in our home… lucky for us, a small modular lounge actually exists!

This room still has some way to go before I feel that it’s complete but with the couch in, I can now focus on other big pieces for other rooms while finishing the furnishings for this room so watch this space!

Couch Potato.

Having recently sold our old sofa to purchase a new one, the living space in our new home is looking very bare – it makes me so sad!

With the new sofa not arriving until May, it makes it very hard to visualise what I’ve got planned for our future living room.

This was particularly the case over the past weekend when I picked up our coffee table and feature chair – more on these at a later date. Even though I knew that I was set on these pieces, the lack of sofa made it difficult to piece it together visually in my mind (though I’m sure that it works)!

It made me realise how central the sofa is to my life… it really is the hub of our home now that our kitchen, dining and living areas are all interconnected – yes, I’m a couch potato!

I really can’t wait another 6 weeks for the sofa but the patience will pay off – it will finally complete our room! Until then, we’ll just keep sitting on the floor…
